Real Living Wage For USW Cleaners
The Issue
#RealLivingWage4Cleaners
Cleaners who work at the University of South Wales for the private firm KGB Cleaning services are demanding the real Living Wage of £8.45 per hour.
Cleaners and ancillary staff are one of the only groups of workers on campus who don’t get paid the real Living Wage. This is because they are employed by a private company which only pays them the bare legal minimum of £7.20 per hour. Many struggle to live off such low wages but we know the money is there to pay them what they deserve.
UNISON University South Wales branch is campaigning for them to be paid the real living wage of £8.45 per hour.
What we’re campaigning for:
A wage increase from £7.20 per hour to £8.45 per hour
An end to exploitative ‘zero hours’ contracts
