On February 1st, a USC run Instagram account @uscedu released an ins story in which they stated that saying "Chinese New Year" is "not actually correct" and crossed the term out with red dash line, a symbol reserved for crossing out the name of the deceased and considered extremely disrespectful in Chinese culture. When students flooded in to voice their opinions, the account quickly disabled the comment section due to supposedly discriminatory language.
