That CCA rates are set by your legislators? Child Care Assistance is the state subsidy for low-income families in Iowa. While our legislators have done a fair job of raising the minimum income requirements, they have not ensured that the rate of pay to providers (centers and child development homes) matched "fair market value". 

In Johnson County, market rates for childcare slots exceed what childcare assistance pays. This makes it difficult for childcare programs to make ends meet when there is a significant amount of families utilizing this state aid. 

Many centers don't take any childcare assistance (or limit the percentage they will take), making finding spots for families with this assistance an uphill battle.

We encourage you to contact local legislators to discuss the need to increase child care assistance rates.
