Radha Krishna Mandir and Cultural Center
Jul 4, 2018
July 3rd 2018 Jai Shree Krishna and hoping all is well. It is with tremendous satisfaction and joy that I announce tonight that, after some long and determined discussions and deliberations, at the Planning and Development committee meeting held tonight at Cambridge City Hall, The Mayor and the Councillors of Cambridge City Council has voted unanimously to approve our zone change application subject to a few conditions including a signed agreement with Toyota's Motor Manufacturing Corporation (TMMC) about noise and odor as well as water runoff and water management to limit flow into the neighborhood. To the Mayor and Councillors and to all those who have supported us so far, we have all together cleared a big hurdle and we will finally see some advancement towards the completion of a properly built Vedic Mandir. I thank each of you as well as Mayor Craig and every Councillor. Special thanks to Bhai Hans Madan, who tirelessly wrote and rewrote many, many reports and overhead projections as well as enormous amounts of research and made personal contacts with officials to see this day come to pass. Accolades also goes out also to Bhai Ram Dharamdial and Bhai Mahadeo Singh for all their engineering contributions and to their professionalism and dedication so far. To each of you my personal gratitude and eternal love and appreciation. Sewaks, such as you, make people like me look good and I thank you again and hope that Shree Krishna will bless you and your spouses and the rest of your families with all good things in abundance. The Hindu Community will never be able to repay each of you for wat was accomplished tonight and what is yet to come from each of you. It is a great day for all of us to see how lucky we are to be involved in the planning, building completion and management of the new Radha Krishna Mandir and Cultural Centre. Let us all thank Shree Krishna for this opportunity and achievement and keep our dreams alive and subsequently be fulfilled as soon as Pandit Jee returns and the dust settles after the agreements are signed, we will plan our Bhoomi Puja and we will keep you posted. As a Hindu and as a duly elected President I have a responsibility to serve without expectations of reward, and to always do what is right and do it without prejudice and dislike and I must always stand for what is just. Further, even when we lose we must admit that loss and move on but we must never succumb to prejudice and hatred but to show love and compassion at all times. We are the Non-Violent ones but we are to respect our opponents and be understanding. Let us display the same attributes to our new neighbours when we see them. Since we moved into the Old Mill Rd facility and acquired the new lands we have made offers on many different sites to relocate and build a proper New Hindu Temple. To be part of such a historic event is not an everyday event and very few get such an opportunity. We know that some of the residents and Toyota manufacturing are still opposed to our zone change and therefore oppose our plans to build a new place of worship but that does not deter us as we know we will win them over by our behavior as neighbors as we have done at Old Mill Rd and wherever we settle. We have the support, we have the skills, and the money to persevere with the building of a new facility. Even with the negativity that has and will come out we will persevere as we are only doing what is right and what we are constitutionally allowed to do worship in a way we see fit. We know that we as a community are an asset to Canada and will continue to be, as we continue to be good neighbors and residents. We ask those that oppose to our application to withdraw their opposition, trust, welcome us and let us peacefully coexist by welcoming us into the neighbourhood On behalf of our entire organization, its board and as President, I thank all those who have made this part of the Dream completed, I anticipate your continued moral and physical support in all ways and by offering encouragement and making a strong financial commitment. Highest regards, Radha Krishna Mandir and Cultural Center of the Cambridge Hindu Society Dwarka Persaud President president@radhakrishnamandir.net
