Re-zone our land that we may continue to grow and serve!

In 2001 the Radha Krishna Mandir purchased 2.24 acres of land in Cambridge adjacent to the Toyota Motor Manufacturing facility (In between and surrounded by Royal Oak Rd, Cherry Blossom Dr and Boxwood Dr.).

At that time we filed the appropriate paperwork to let the City of Cambridge and surrounding neighbors letting them know of our intention to build a new home and cultural center for the Growing Hindu community of Cambridge, and the greater Waterloo region.

Since then all of the lands surrounding our property has been designated for urban or industrial use, while our vacant plot in the middle of 3 roads (Cheery Blossom Rd, Boxwood Dr. and Royal Oak Rd.) remains designated as agricultural.

17 years later we are now facing opposition from the neighbors and the adjacent Toyota Motor Manufacturing facility, as they are trying to stop our growth and ability to best serve our community. To this day no alternate options been offered by any of the aforementioned parties and we have done nothing but cater and adapt our plans to best resolve the concerns brought forth, but it seems that new 'concerns' keep propping up once we amicably solve the ones already addressed..

Our goal is to build an AODA compliant facility to cater to the cultural and spiritual needs of Cambridge's and Waterloo regions growing Hindu and Vedic communities. Our new facility will offer much needed programs for seniors, youths and adults, by teaching language, music, dance and offering community programming. Services for new Canadians, ESL and integration into Canadian society will also be provided. We have been at our present location on Old Mill Road in Cambridge (Blair) for almost 30 years and our current facility limits us to the services we can offer. Our new home allows us to meet the needs of not only our community but the greater Waterloo region.

The Radha Krishna Mandir and Cultural Center has made it clear since 2001 that we wish to build our new AODA compliant, region leading facility to cater to our peaceful and growing community. Hindu temples are a vast source of income for a city, as we as Hindus have several major festivals throughout the year, each bringing in tourism and dollars. We all know that Hindu Weddings are generally quite grand and expensive - these dollars are being spent outside of our city and region when a proper facility would have them spent here. There are no facilities in our region to match the size and scope of what we are proposing and after 30 years in our existing Temple and 17 years of waiting we think its time the City of Cambridge give our lands the proper designation (fitting in with the surrounding lands) and the zoning we deserve.

We are counting on your support by signing this petition and sharing it with your family and friends on all of your social media platforms. Let's send a message to the City of Cambridge, our neighbors and opponents that we are a progressive, peaceful organization that will integrate without issue on the vacant land we have owned and intend to build upon for over 17 years.
