Re-position Drop-off Zones Away from School and Train Station Entrances

The issue

I write this petition today as a concerned citizen who values pedestrian safety and amenities, particularly around our children's schools and our bustling train stations. Our public spaces should put safety first, but the current placement of delivery drop-off zones at these locations poses a threat to both.

Each day, an alarming number of pedestrians, including children and the elderly, risk their wellbeing navigating these dangerous zones which are often congested with delivery trucks. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, pedestrian fatalities account for 17% of all traffic fatalities (Source: NHTSA), and a significant portion of these occur in places characterized by congestion, such as schools and train stations.

By relocating these zones, we can reduce potential hazards that compromise the safety of pedestrians, allowing a safer space for everyone. Prevention and elimination of potential risks should be a priority over logistical conveniences.

Even Sydney's new Bays Metro Station "Artist impression" has roads and cars driving around the station. We need to stop this madness and not enable drivers to endanger pedestrians.

I firmly believe that the benefits of this relatively small change will significantly improve pedestrian safety and general amenity. We urge the local authorities to understand the seriousness of this situation and take urgent action. Please sign this petition to advocate for the relocation of delivery  of goods, waste removal, kiss and ride drop-off and pick up zones away from school and train station entrances.
