Year after year, many arterial roads across Dane County and Madison get worse and worse, with no signs of resurfacing in sight. 

The status quo of sealcoating and pothole filling can only do so much. Many roadways are well beyond this stage.

I strongly believe that the current rate of full resurfacing is not adequate to keep up with how rough the pavement is to drive over.   The reason is simple: there is not enough budget allocated towards resurfacing.  Some counties have introduced "millages" -- supplemental taxes specifically designed for road resurfacing.  For example: Washtenaw County, MI voters approved a millage over 10 years ago, and since than they've had fantastic success, resurfacing over 500 miles of county roads!  (More info on their millage/funding works: https://www.wcroads.org/faq/road-funding )
