It’s OUR LIBRARY, not their storage!!!

Received an email from the chief of operations. A summary would be; the building is storage for our popup van and we will have a meeting to ask people what they want.

I responded informing them we don’t need them to have strategic planning sessions, we are simple. Open our library with the 3 days it was open before. It’s not hard.

I also informed them that while the pop up library may come to our building there is no information available on their website with the dates or times it will be there or even detailed information of what is actually available in their van.

I am doing research into Leetonia, which has its own library and is exempt from the libraries tax levies. Looking to see what can be done about our township becoming exempt and forming its own library. We are a strong community and if they are going to overlook us we will not be silent!

We received your inquiry asking why Greenford Library has not re-opened to the public.

While the Greenford Branch is not open at this time, we are and have been providing services to the community through our Pop-Up Library. Patrons can check out materials, as well as sign up for a Library card, while using the Pop-Up. Currently the Pop Up library collection that services the van is not open to the public to use but is housed at the Greenford location. Staff stock items for the various stops in the county from that location.

We want to hear from the Greenford community about their ideas of what Library service should look like for the southern portion of Mahoning County.

We reached out to several community members last year to provide a jump start to our feedback mechanism, and this year, we are embarking on a strategic planning session for our entire Library system. Part of our process includes learning what members of the Greenford community would like to see from the Library.

The Library values our patrons and wants to provide services to as many communities as we can. While the Greenford Branch is not open at this time, we are and have been providing services to the entire community not only through our Pop-Up Library but also our at our other locations, through our website, and books by mail services.

We will be hosting a meeting in the community this summer to learn more about what Greenford citizens like you would like to see.

Regards,

Deborah on behalf of PLYMC
