We, the residents and supporters of Crested Butte South, urgently and respectfully ask the Crested Butte Fire Protection District Board of Directors to pause and re-locate the proposed construction of an approximately 85-foot multi-antennae cell phone tower in Red Mountain Park and allow the community to fully participate in the decision with greater community involvement, full community vote, and location supported by Gunnison County as part of Corridor Plan.

Red Mountain Park is one of the most cherished recreational spaces in Crested Butte South. Families, children, and visitors gather there daily to enjoy open space, nature, and community events. The proposal to install a large telecommunications tower in the park raises serious concerns for many residents.

Community members have voiced concerns about:

• The placement of a large telecommunications structure in close proximity to homes and areas used by children
• Potential long-term health considerations associated with living near concentrated telecommunications infrastructure
• Possible decreases in nearby property values
• The visual and aesthetic impact of an 85-foot tower in a beloved community park year-round but especially winter.
• The long-term preservation of Red Mountain Park as an open recreational space

Because this decision will affect the character, safety, and future of our neighborhood, it deserves broad and meaningful community input.

We respectfully request that the Board:

Voluntarily pause or stop the current proposal to construct the cell tower in Red Mountain Park.
Conduct a transparent community vote of Crested Butte South residents before moving forward.
Ensure broad participation, with a goal of at least 80% resident engagement, so that the outcome truly reflects the will of the community.
Provide clear information and allow open public dialogue about the project and possible alternative locations.
Decisions that shape the future of our community should be made with the community, not without it.
