Lunch & Learn was a program established at ACHS last school year that allowed students to meet with clubs, receive academic support from teachers, complete homework assignments in a controlled environment, and much more during a 74-minute lunch block. It also allowed students who have after-school responsibilities, such as working in order to provide for their families, taking care of their siblings, playing sports, and more, to participate in extracurriculars that not only enhanced the school-wide sense of community but also enriched their resumes, strongly increasing the chances of them getting into college. Lunch & Learn was a vital program that every student benefited from in one way or another, and it is necessary for the main parts of it to return. We, the students of ACHS, are petitioning for the ACPS Central Office to re-instate the main parts of Lunch & Learn: a universal 74-minute lunch block in which students are able to benefit from social, emotional, and academic learning.
