On Wednesday, January 1st, 2025 the BIG 12 Conference Champion Arizona State University (ASU) faced off against the SEC Runner-Up University of Texas (UT) in the 2025 Peach Bowl Game played at the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. 

In that game, Cam Skattebo from ASU and Quinn Ewers from UT both led their teams throughout the game.  

The final stat line:

Quinn Ewers - 4 Total Touchdowns (3 passing, 1 Rushing)

328 Total Yards (322 Yards Passing, 6 Yards Rushing)

 

Cam Skattebo - 3 Total Touchdowns

242 Total Yards (99 Yards Passing, 143 Yards Rushing)

 

The Peach Bowl Committee decided to award the Most Valuable Player Trophy with 7 minutes remaining in regulation for a game that was ultimately settled in double overtime to Cam Skattebo.

While Cam Skattebo had a terrific game after his team held onto the ball for 37 minutes versus UT having the ball for 22 minutes, Quinn Ewers threw 2 Touchdowns in OVERTIME to LEAD HIS TEAM TO VICTORY.  

Despite the impressive statistics for Mr. Skattebo, his statistics were still not as impressive as Mr. Ewers and Mr. Skattebo did not lead his team to victory like Mr. Ewers did.  Mr. Ewers also out dueled the ASU quarterback, Sam Leavitt, who challenged Mr. Ewers throughout the week leading up to the game only to end up throwing for a 100 yards less than Mr. Ewers, zero touchdowns, and an interception to end his teams season to Andrew Mukuba of UT.

OUR GOAL IS FOR THE PEACH BOWL COMMITTEE TO RECONSIDER THEIR AWARDING OF THE MVP TROPHY TO MR. SKATTEBO AND TO EITHER RE-AWARD THE TROPHY TO MR. EWERS IN IT'S ENTIRETY OR TO CREATE A CO-MVP FOR THE 2025 PEACH BOWL WHERE BOTH MR. SKATTEBO AND MR. EWERS ARE AWARDED MVP TROPHIES.  

THE MVP AWARD SHOULD REFLECT THE PLAY ON THE FIELD AFTER THE GAME HAS COMPLETED AND NOT BEFORE.  IT IS COMPLETELY CONTRARY TO THE SPIRIT OF THE GAME TO START AWARDING TROPHIES FOR A GAME BEFORE THE GAME HAS COMPLETED.  THIS CAN NOT AND SHOULD NOT BE NORMALIZED IN ANY SPORT.
