ROAR Rustenburg Organised Against Rainbow chickens

ROAR Rustenburg Organised Against Rainbow chickens
The Issue
Hydrogen sulphide, its risks to health and its foul noxious odour have been increasing steadily in our air for the last 30 years ever since RCL Foods opened their Rainbow Chicken processing plant in Rustenburg. Also the stench of burning waste and the particulate matter that accompanies it has increased in conjunction with the increased facilities: the addition of the Epol plant, and just two years ago, a biogas plant that converts chicken poo into electricity which makes their production more cost-effective. In other words, more money for them with more health risks and degradation of the environment for us.
We, the community of Seraleng, Karlien Park, Zinniaville, Thlabane, Rustenburg North and all others affected are suffering the consequence from both the harmful effects of the toxins released, as well as RCL Foods’ dereliction of their ‘Duty of Care’ to the public.
Please support our action to compel RCL Foods to abide by the regulations and be true to their claims of responsible corporate behaviour. Their current conduct is at odds with each of the elements of Environmental, Socail and Governance (ESG) investor criteria that responsible corporates are practicing.
Please add your voice to our ROAR for a clean environment and a healthy community.
