This discussion isn't anything new. Several people have already pointed out the benefits of legalising porn in India. Here are some of the immediate and long term benefits of the adult film industry

1) Indian Porn Actors

Watching porn is legal in India anyways, and even though the government tried to ban it (in 2015), widespread public pressure forced them to back down and re-institute it. Instead of having to exclusively watch foreign actors, we can also chose to watch consenting Indian actors.

2) Embrace a Truly Free Society

India can never claim to be a free society if it censors content from the people. Restricting people, from doing what they want, is disrespecting their autonomy. Porn isn't rape, and it doesn't foster any sort of sexual misconduct. If a woman wants to make a porn video, she should be allowed. The US, Canada, UK, New Zealand, Australia, etc. all allow their adult citizens to produce porn.

3) It's Already Happening Anyway

Hundreds of thousands of people across India are already making porn, but illegally. They cover their faces from fear of persecution. Due to lack of proper budget, the videos have a low production quality but are still avidly consumed. Imagine what would happen if we had proper studios dedicated to making these films. And young couples were allowed to make their amateur videos.

4) Kamasutra

India is the birthplace of the book of love. It used to have a very progressive attitude toward sex. Why has this all changed all of a sudden? Because some old people told us that sex is bad? They're wisdom is integral to our development but there are some situations in which it's okay to ignore them.

5) Boost the Economy

The industry will kick off a huge rise in the GDP in India, and taxation on it, like alcohol taxes, can strengthen the government funds. We can expect to see growth upwards of 1.5 lakh crores within the first year of making porn publication legal.
