Wrongfully Convicted Michigan DOC Captive! Help Exonerate Nosakhare Onumonu!
The Issue
Nosakhare Onumonu, spiritualist, artist and activist was wrongfully convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life without the possibility of parole concerning the 1999 coldcase of the slain Helen Klocek. He was wrongfully convicted on August 21, 2015 in a 2 hour trial where jurors did not even view the given evidence. After DNA was obtained in 2011 by Michigan DOC to allow Nosakhare access to parole which he was granted while closing out an unrelated sentence, detectives fabricated evidence by attaching his DNA to a Kevlar glove, which contains DNA from an unidentified individual. The trial also included faulty eyewitness testimony and circumstantial evidence concerning Nosakhare’s seasonal employment at PDC Glass where the glove was used.
While his family continuously fights for his freedom, we still need your help! Nosakhare is a good man, a hard worker, and the backbone of his family. Even from behind bars, he is continuously involved in his family's lives. From phone calls to emails and prayers, he continues to be present.
You can help make the change by signing this petition. Nosa is counting on you! There is also a website linked below containing more information on Nosakhare Onumonu's circumstance. We are asking you to help us reach 13th District Represenative Rashida Tlaib and Coleman Young II to inform them of Nosakhare's predicament as well as taking the steps necessary to present his case to the courts so that he may be exonerated and sent home to his loving family. Nosakhare has suffered enough over the last 7 years of this wrongful conviction. We do not want to shame anyone but sometimes the court system simply makes mistakes. Due to this mistake, Ms.Klocek's family has not been served justice and the real killer has not been pursued and apprehended. If the prosecutors would take a deeper look at this case and call out the inconsistencies based upon the evidence presented, they would find that Nosakhare was innocent all along. It's freedom time and this captive of the MIchigan Department of Corrections must be released!
