Play Lacrosse at Cooper High School in 2021-2022 School Year

Play Lacrosse at Cooper High School in 2021-2022 School Year
The Issue
With two area high schools positioned to add lacrosse teams for the Spring 2022 season (Walton Verona and Ryle), it’s time for the Cooper community to act, as there is sufficient interest in starting a boys and girls lacrosse team.
Currently, the administration at Cooper High School has expressed a curiosity in adding a lacrosse team. Our intent is to show them there’s a supportive community behind Cooper lacrosse, and with that support and a startup blueprint created by NKY Lacrosse, we can move them beyond the mild, future, possible interest to a definite, immediate and turnkey plan of action.
A meeting was held on June 8th with the Principal and Athletic Director from Cooper. Representing our cause at that meeting were two board members from NKY Lacrosse, the Cooper Athletic Booster President and a current Cooper staff member. All of them have a direct interest in getting this started.
During the June 8th meeting, the presentation team outlined the demand for the addition of lacrosse and provided the projected pathway to get it started. The NKY Lacrosse Board laid out the facts and figures for area schools - complete with estimated costs, sustainability and even a summer recruiting event. To this point, there has been no decision or action taken.
Here’s where we NEED YOU: A major part of this initiative must come simultaneously from a vocal community. Please take a moment to 1) sign the petition and 2) to join the Facebook Group Lacrosse at Randall K. Cooper High School for updates and information.
With the assistance of NKY Lacrosse, vocal parents, vocal students and a vocal community, this can happen. We’re simply asking for the inclusion of another sport to give more opportunities for students to become involved. We’re ready to bring the great sport of lacrosse to Cooper High School in the 2021-2022 school year. Please consider supporting us as we work to help make that happen.
