The Innocence Project at UVA School of Law has made a final request for an Absolute Pardon for Trudy Munoz, our client who was wrongfully convicted of child abuse and neglect in 2009, using the increasingly doubted “Shaken Baby Syndrome.” Not only did Ms. Munoz not shake this baby, she properly administered CPR until EMTs arrived, and ten years later, the child is alive and well.

Ms. Munoz was released on August 13th, 2018 and was immediately detained by ICE. Ms. Munoz now sits in the Norfolk City Jail because the ICE facilities in Virginia are full. Trudy has been incarcerated and separated from her daughters for nearly a decade, and unless Governor Ralph Northam grants an Absolute Pardon, she will be deported and again wrongfully ripped from the arms of her family.

This is a monumental injustice, and only an Absolute Pardon from Governor Northam can give her the chance to stay with her daughters and family.
