Our school system continues to cancel school during winter months due to small amounts of weather with snow, ice, or cold! Most of the United States manages this just fine without complications! The mission of this petition is to improve our cancelation policy of snow days by way of improved resources, more informed decision making in regards to the weather, or just plain changing the summer break and moving it to the winter months since our current system is completely unable to manage any amount of poor weather. The rational is to support working parents who cannot miss work without potential consequences as a result of the cancelations. Many parents are frustrated and upset about these issues throughout the Hampton Roads area, many argue we have inadequate resources or that our infrastructure is ill equipped for such adverse weather patterns, well, this petition aims to change all these things and improve our ability to aid our children in going to school and getting an adequate education, while being safe and allowing parents to keep their jobs!!
