Keep the Robert E. Lee statue in the U.S. Capitol

Keep the Robert E. Lee statue in the U.S. Capitol
The Issue
Robert E. Lee was a Confederate Army general in the Civil War and is the second statue Virginia had put in the U.S. Capitol. Del. Mark Levine and D-Alexandria feel that Robert E. Lee should not be the Virginian to represent the state. I would dare disagree, they believe this because presentism is their current state of mind. If they travel back in time, they would truly realize why they had chosen Robert E. Lee. He was loyal to Virginia. Abraham Lincoln had offered him the title to be the commander for the side of the United States, but he refused claiming that he couldn't betray his people. It is also known that Lee was against the idea of seceding, but because of his high standards of honor, he stuck by Virginia no matter their decision. And although he fought for the Confederate side in the Civil War he said when assessing his character to not associate it with slavery and to rule it out. Yes he was a Confederate general, yes he was fighting for slavery, but not based on his personal beliefs, it's because he was loyal to Virginia and was simply fighting for his home.
