Raleigh City Council votes on Raleigh BikeShare Tuesday 2/16 @ 1pm

We have the money (only until April 2016), and a favorable report. Lets help make a City Council YES vote easy - Sign this petition to show your support!

How we got here:

an independent feasibility study was completed that said YES - BikeShare is feasible
The City has incorporated BikeShare into its Comprehensive Bike Plan
Raleigh has made major investments in bike infrastructure
The City (via CAMPO) has secured a federal grant for 80% of all capital costs if approved by April 2016

Strong Public Support

Over 300 responses on the bike share input map, 173 surveys collected, strong attendance at public hearings and stakeholder meetings.

Strong Private Support

Large companies have already expressed strong sponsorship interest in early conversations with elected leaders. BikeShare provides a great ongoing way for companies to prominently show their investment in Raleigh’s continued rise.

Funding (the current proposal)

CAMPO has federal air quality funds earmarked for 80% of the capital costs. The balance is $425k – a one- time cost, which must be paid with city funds.
Coverage of ongoing operational costs ($650k/yr) are below,
$220k proposed to come from the farebox
$220k from sponsorships (early commitments exceed this)
$220k (or balance) from the city
