Rajampet, as assembly constituency in Annamayya District of Andhra Pradesh is been neglected by ruling parties since long time. In the last YSRCP government, while doing reorganisation of districts, Annamayya is made as a new district, cutting away few assembly constituencies from Old Kadapa district and making Rayachoti as District HQ. This was a pure political decision and people at the top who are decision makers, inclined towards Rayachoti, though it doesnt have necessary Infra and other facilities. Rajmpet is the best choice in terms of geographicsm demographics and the name given to this new district " Annamayya" because the great Annamayya belongs to Rajampet area. Rajampet is convenient for all the people in terms of travel, approach, infra facilities. Everyone in the present government knows about this. But, again some forces in ruling governemnt, native of Rayachoti, is influencing to avoid Rajampet as district HQ. There are regular protests in Rajampet to make it Annamayya district HQ.
