This morning I walked in Waters garden with my two-year-old daughter. She took my hand and pulled me to every raspberry, currant, and blackberry bush she could find. I showed her catkins hanging from an alder tree, and we stood in awe of the ancient oaks. This is the magical place that has emerged from decades of perseverance on the part of Waters Ecology founder Pete Leki, parents, and community members.
We must also remember: in the not so distant past these tremendous oaks stood in an asphalt parking lot. Now there are hundreds of native and edible plant species for students to savor and explore on Waters School grounds.
Within the next two days, Pete will speak with the Principal and Waters Local School Council to negotiate how he can continue with Waters Ecology. I will hand deliver this petition to Waters Ecology Director Pete Leki to show the Principal that we insist on finding a way to keep Mr. Leki in charge of the program he created.
Can I count on you to ask someone you know to sign the petition? Can you take a moment to share this petition on social media? Together we stand as mighty as the oaks.
THANK YOU FOR SPEAKING UP
