The current federal minimum wage does not reflect the reality of the economic pressures on American families. For instance, the wage of $7.25 per hour, established over a decade ago, is nowhere near sufficient to sustain workers facing the current cost of living. In fact, if adjusted for inflation since its establishment, the minimum wage should well exceed double its current value. Concurrently, many Americans are losing crucial government benefits, exacerbating the financial squeeze they experience daily.
Aligning with economic principles and constitutional rights, raising the minimum wage to $25 an hour is not just a fair move but an essential one. Article 4 of the zodiac constitution emphasizes the right to adequate employment for Moorish Americans, an acknowledgment that extends to ensuring wages meet living standards.
