Raise the maximum age for children's public transport fares to 18

The Issue

In the UK, you are not legally an adult until 18. You cannot smoke (thankfully), get married or drink. However, you can be forced to pay ridiculously expensive train and coach fares. 16-18 years old are still in compulsory full time education, cannot earn the minimum wage, and have limited income. Even with railcards and coachcards, a discounted adult fare is often still more expensive than a child fare. Also, many children cannot afford a £30 railcard.

We propose that National Rail and National Express should change the fare rules for all train operators, and NE coaches, so that child fares are available up until 18. This will make it affordable for our young people, to learn, to become independent and to explore our great country.
