Raise Minimum Wage Nationally by inflation rate +5%.

The Issue

The cost of living in Canada is sky rocketing with inflation rate in June reaching 8.1%

Increasing minimum wages across Canada will benefit all Canadians, help businesses, economy growth increasing demand and increase employment to sustain the higher demand. It would also improve the workers performances, and reduce absentees.

Most people drive to work and are paying 33% higher gas.

To rent a 2 bedroom apartment now cost 18.6% higher than 2021.

Food is 5% to 8% higher.

Bus fare is 7% higher.

etc.

The federal average minimum wage is only $15.55 per hour.

By signing this petition you are asking to raise the federal minimum wage across Canada by 15%.

All retail raised prices and all big box stores are generating higher profits. Yet, our minimum wage remains the same.

15% increase:

Alberta from $15.00 to $17.25

British Columbia from $15.65 to $18.00

Manitoba from $11.95 to $13.75

New Brunswick from $12.75 to $14.70

Newfoundland from $13.20 to $15.20

Northwest Territories from $15.20 to $17.50

Nova Scotia from $13.35 to $15.35

Nunavut from $16.00 to $18.40

Ontario from $15.00 to $17.25

P.E.I from $13.70 to $15.75

Quebec from $14.25 to $16.40

Yukon from $15.70 to $18.05

Some province, like Ontario, will increase minimum wage in October but only .033% from $15 to $15.50

Inflation is over 8.1% and by the end of the year it might be over 10%.

Minimum wage should be increase at least by same percentage as the inflation and to give us a breading room, it should be increased by an extra 5% above the inflation rate.

15% will raise the minimum wage to $17.25 from $15 here in Ontario and Alberta. The .50c increase is only .033% of the Ontario minimum wage. At the most an employee will get an extra $20 per week not excluding the deductions: Income Tax, CPP, and any other deduction.

This .50c becomes about .28c a miserable $11.20 per week. The overall inflation made our minimum wage take a step backwards. A $15 minimum wage now is equivalent to only $10.

A government official said that the solution would be to get a better paying job.

What about those that can't find a better Job?

Unfortunately, a better paying job require 5 to 15 years of experience and no employer is willing to hire anyone without experience. So, this solution is bust.

Minimum wage only affect the lower class that soon will have to cut down the food we eat, get rid of the car since gas is 33% higher and use a bicycle instead, and cut down the TV & Internet Services so we can afford rent.

So let’s sign this petition to raise minimum wage by 15%.

Don't let Canada become a 3rd world country with a majority poor population.
