Steve Amoussou, my younger brother, has become a symbol of bravery by standing up against the rampant abuse of human rights in our home country, Benin. He became the voice for the voiceless, willing to denounce the injustices and unlawful detentions that have been plaguing our country. It was a journey filled with courage that led him to choose this path, but it also put him in harm's way. He has now been kidnapped, and is being held unlawfully, while false charges are being fabricated against him.

The detainment of a single voice of democracy symbolises a larger issue in our country. Evidence of widespread human right abuses in Benin can no longer be ignored. I implore you; every individual, every institution, every news channel & newspaper that believes in human rights, democracy, and the protection of freedom of speech to stand up and make a difference.
