The world is currently a very dangerous place. Countries like China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea are pursuing aggressive policies that ultimately could affect us all, and not in a good way!

Canada's military is not properly funded.  It is vital that we increase defense spending for several reasons:

1.  Our military personnel deserve to be equipped properly, both in order to train effectively, and to fight effectively, in an absolute worst case scenario.
2. We need to deter aggression and prevent future wars.  In their recent book, General Petraeus (US) and historian Andrew Roberts point out "the old truth that money saved in piecemeal defense cuts ... often costs more in the long run" and that "money spent on deterrence is seldom wasted".  We need to arm to deter aggressors.
3. We cannot count on our neighbour to the south to retain an iron clad commitment to NATO, or to come to our defense.  All other NATO members must therefore step up their commitments, including Canada.
4. Increased funding to our military will give Canada more credibility and a stronger voice on the world stage.  Canada's voice as a strong middle power is a voice that the world needs.
