So I think you’ll all have heard by now that’s there’s going to be an election in a couple of weeks, that means the person we’re petitioning might change, but the campaign will keep going. And there’s already some good news: Diabetes UK, who have been promoting our petition, have included the changes we want to see as a major part of their Diabetes Election Manifesto! So I’d like every candidate to say they’ll get behind that manifesto and make those changes. Can you ask your local candidates to promise to keep children with medical conditions Safe in School? I’ve written to my candidate already using this Diabetes UK tool – it’s only takes a minute and you can add your own details if you like. My bet is that most candidates don’t realise lots of children are suffering because schools aren’t aware of the law. We need to tell them what’s happening. One frustrating thing about the election is that the meeting we had agreed with the Minister Edward Timpson has now been postponed. We’ll have to push for a meeting again after the election, and maybe with a different Minister. But if we can get people talking about this in Parliament it’ll help us get their attention. So please ask your local candidates to get behind our campaign!
