On Friday, May 15, 2026, Mr. Michael Olugbade Oyedokun, a devoted teacher at Community High School Ahoro Esiele, was kidnapped alongside his colleagues and students by a gang of terroristic bandits in Oriire LGA. The once quiet environment of community was shattered by this heinous act, and his untimely death has left an indelible mark on us all. The memories of his laughter, wisdom, calmness, and dedication to his students now serve as haunting reminders of a life tragically cut short.

The culprits released a harrowing video, relaying the unfathomable cruelty and injustice Mr. Oyedokun faced in his last moments. As he courageously stated his name and profession before his merciless execution, our hearts broke. "Oyedokun M.O is my name. I am a teacher at Community High School Ahoro Esiele," were his last words, and they continue to echo painfully through our community.

As we call on the Nigerian government under the leadership of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we demand justice for Mr. Michael Oyedokun and release Mr. Michael’s body and other kidnapped individuals. It’s imperative to highlight this atrocious crime, not just as an account of personal tragedy, but as a broader narrative of the increasing danger faced by teachers, students, and innocent civilians in Nigeria. According to the Global Terrorism Database, incidents of kidnappings by bandits in Nigeria have sharply risen, with over 2,000 cases reported in 2025 alone, affecting both the lives and security of educators across the nation.

This petition calls upon local, national, and international law enforcement agencies to take immediate and decisive action to bring these perpetrators to justice. It is vital that our government employs strategic measures to enhance the safety and security of our towns, ensuring that no one else falls victim to such acts of brutality.
