Not only has social media been proven to cause unhappiness, but it can also lead to the development of mental health issues such as anxiety or depression among the youth of today.

In March 2018, it was reported that more than a third of Generation Z (including those aged from 14- 24) from a 1,000- strong survey stated that they were quitting social media for good. 41% said that social media platforms made them feel anxious, sad or depressed.

We aim to contact the new Secretary of State for Education and persuade schools to feature information around staying safe online. Topics covered should include self-esteem, mental health and online bullying.

This campaign aims to encourage the government and local institutions to conduct more research into the effects of social media on young people's mental health. The campaign also says that social media and mental health issues should be an integral part of any school’s curriculum.
