It is personal to me because I value the ocean a lot. I want more people to be aware of how much trash and poor substances go into the ocean, and how it's affecting habitats, specifically sea turtles. Every year, millions of tons of plastic waste end up in our oceans, severely impacting marine life. In Massachusetts alone, numerous sea turtles are found with plastic debris in their stomachs or entangled in fishing gear.

Sea turtles mistake plastic bags for jellyfish, one of their primary food sources. This ingestion can lead to severe injuries or death due to blockages or starvation. Additionally, pollutants such as oil spills and chemical runoff further degrade their habitats.

We must take action now to protect these magnificent creatures and preserve our marine ecosystems for future generations.
