ARMIDALE RAIL TRAIL CONSULTATION
The Community Deserves Transparency
Following the June Council meeting,
Mayor Sam Coupland stated that around 85% of responses to the recent Rail Trail consultation were supportive.
If that is the case, the community deserves to understand how this figure was reached.
Questions that need clear answers:
❓ Were all responses from local residents, or did they include people from outside the region?
❓ How many submissions came from landowners adjoining the rail corridor?
❓ Were duplicate or multiple responses from the same individual identified and removed?
❓ What consultation methods were counted (emails, phone calls, meetings, online submissions, etc.)?
❓ Will Council publish a complete summary of responses and explain how the results were analysed while protecting personal privacy?
Transparency Builds Trust
Major decisions about the future of the Armidale–Glen Innes rail corridor should be based on an open and transparent consultation process.
The community deserves to see how the consultation results were compiled before irreversible decisions are made.
Let's ask for transparency. Let's ensure every voice is counted fairly.
