Sri Lanka Rail Tourism Back Again after the Devastating Cyclone and Floods.

This video shows tourists at the highest station in the country, like Armidale, when tourists were boarding the train to Badulla. Station and its operations reflect the architecture, dress style of station master, and certain practices to manage the service.

Train services to Colombo from Ambewela are still not restored due to track and bridge repairs. Landslides and heavy floods  caused much damage. Eg Peradeniya bridge across Mahaweli River near the University.

Rail tourism in New England can be improved if councils have a credible and visionary plan. It needs to be improved with buses and trains connecting Armidale airport and rail station with other towns like Guyra, Glen Innes, Inverell,Tenterfield plus smaller towns like Ebor, Dorrigo as well as tourist attractions like blue hole, water falls, and national parks.

Our tourism strategy is not sufficiently integrated with ground transport services. It is still car dependent. Course correction is absolutely essential.
