New England Residents – Don’t Stay Silent on Our Rail Future
If you oppose the removal of the rail line between Armidale and Glen Innes for an ill conceived rail trail by two councils, now is the time to speak up.
Decisions are being pushed forward that will permanently remove critical transport infrastructure — without clear, broad community support. Once the rail is gone, it’s gone.
Here’s what you can do right now:
1️⃣ Make a submission to the New England Northwest Strategic Regional Integrated Transport Plan (SRITP)Tell them clearly:
Removing the rail line is a short-sighted decision
There is no demonstrated widespread community support for this
The real need is to restore and extend passenger rail services to:
Guyra
Glen Innes
Tenterfield
Wallangarra
Our region deserves future-focused transport and cross border connectivity, not asset removal
👉 Submit here:

2️⃣ Sign the petition to show community opposition. Numbers matter. Let’s demonstrate that many in our region want rail retained and restored.

This is about more than a rail line — it’s about:✔️ Regional connectivity✔️ Access to services✔️ Economic opportunity✔️ A sustainable transport future
