Hello rail supporters,

I am standing for the Armidale regional Council under Group E -Community First independents- because I am convinced that the composition of council needs to be changed if we are to get descent public transport for our region.

Council has a role to play in advocating for better transport infrasructure for the region with State government instead of functioning as a mail box where the Mayor reports what the ministers say on core issues.  I believe when it comes to public transport especially to the north present council has failed its duty of care.

You know that there are no adequate coach services connecting Armidale with Brisbane.  Our only rail line remains non operational. Moreover council weants to remvoe it to build a recreational rail trail for the cycle enthusiasts. Council is beholden to the cycling lobby.  It is not giving a fair hearing to those who want to use the rail line north of Armidale for freight or heritage trains.

We need to change the council with new blood and ideas to grow.  Repeating the the word Growth alone will not bring the bacon home.  We need workable strategies.  Present council lacks any convincing strategy to for growth.  Out of the 4000 jobs that it wants to create nearly half are to come from Renewable Energy Zone(REZ). It will come anyway.  It is a NSW government project.  Nothing to do with the Armidale council.

Please exercise your vote very carefully this Saturday to bring new blood to the council. We need to change the present council.
