Duncan Fischer, Independent candidate for Northern Tablelands by election is opposed to the rail trail.
Another priority for him would be to maintain the railway corridor to the Queensland border.
We should be grateful to Duncan for supporting the return of train services to areas north of Armidale as well as understanding the damage from a rail trail (bike trail) that requires the removal of existing rail line.
Our people living in areas north of Armidale to the Queensland border deserve a passenger train service similar to one those of us living in Uralla, Tamworth and Armidale currently enjoy.
Talk to Duncan and seekfurther clarifications about his views on the subject.
He has been working for NSW railways and he understands the great value of trains as public transport, especially to those of us who live in regional NSW.
