Railway crossing in parsonage road

Railway crossing in parsonage road
The Issue
The railway crossing in Parsonage road, Horsham.
This crossing used to take 5 mins at absolute max to wait until the barriers came down and up again.
it now takes around 15 minutes
people have been left for 20 minutes before barrier lifted and no train had passed by!
the new system has resulted in chaos for the people in Horsham.
It causes massive queues in the local area, that were already a big issue in rush hour causing blocked up roads.
The queue gets blocked up past the roundabouts both ends causing no flow of traffic.
cost of fuel increased due to needing to find alternate routes
cost of time and money to companies that use this route ie taxi’s and delivery companies
problems for the large Lorry’s and extra wide/heavy vechiles that enter the road from their storage area.
potential threat to life with emergency vehicle's unable to cross.
pedestrians/runners being held up for long periods potentially getting heat stroke in high summer or an elderly person suffer with standing long periods the cold/wind/rain.
Risk of pedestrians endangering themselves jumping the barriers, a lot of school kids use this route.
this is causing air emissions to rise.
Concerns regarding the new development being built along the road which consists of residential and business and therefore creating many more traffic issues that are already there which they have t come up with a solution yet
Majority of cars turning around in road which could potentially cause an accident - especially drivers in a hurry or fed up, therefore potentially not aware of what is happening around them.
causing problems for people that aren’t local and therefore don’t know any other alternative routes.
this new system needs to change to make it not affect traffic and pedestrians.
The way it is controlled or managed needs to be reassessed and changed
