RaDonda Vaught serves no Jail time #westandwithRaDondaVaught
The Issue
On March 25, 2022, Tennessee Nurse, RaDonda Vaught was found guilty of criminally negligent homicide and abuse of an impaired adult, from a 2017 medication error, which very sadly caused a patient’s death. This error, resulted from multi-system failures within the hospital system in which it occurred. RaDonda, took ownership of the error, and was honest during the entire investigation. Unfortunately, a conspiratorial turn of events took place, placing blame on RaDonda entirely. Upon learning the verdict, a sinking feeling was felt in all of nurses across the nation. She was found guilty on both counts, marking a fateful day for all nurses in this profession. RaDonda is one of us and we are RaDonda Vaught. There are hundreds of thousands of Medication errors reported every year. Why her? Why any of us? It is what nurses fear most, and that is harming a patient. We carry that fear every single day and try to prevent in every way we practice within the confines that we work. Nurses go into the profession to nurture, care and help. We give all that we have to our patients. We are entitled to just culture, just as in every other profession. We need it to learn from our mistakes so that we can keep our patients safe and continue giving, caring, helping them. Please sign this petition so that RaDonda at the very least get’s a chance at serving no jail for a mistake. This world needs more forgiveness and love. Let’s give her that. Let’s help her get peace and healing at home with her family and not in prison where she doesn’t belong.
