Dismiss and prosecute Asger Juhl and Jorgen Ramskov on animal cruelty grounds after the killing of a 9 week old baby rabbit live on their radio show.

The Issue

It's disgusting and barbaric behaviour.

If you want to highlight that "animal welfare is an issue for some animals but not for others", then you go about exposing the wrongs through legitimate journalism. Not beating a baby rabbit to death.

Asger Juhl is the host of the show that killed Allan, the baby rabbit. You may wonder why we're calling for the CEO of Radio24syv,  Jorgen Ramskov to be dismissed and prosecuted too. It's simple - he's the one who sanctioned the idea. No-one should be allowed to promote or encourage any act of animal cruelty.

Jorgen Ramskov attempted to justify the actions in the show by saying the show had taken advice from experts on how to kill rabbit "instantly and in a way that the animal doesn't suffer".

"According to the person from the zoo, that's how you kill a rabbit," he said. "I am sure there are other ways to kill rabbits."

The fact the host of the show, Asger Juhl had to beat it 3 times with a bicycle pump before ringing it's neck does not, in any way, convey the instant death of the animal.

Saying Allen the rabbit 'had a comfortable existence' before his death, nor trying to justify the actions in an attempt to highlight the hypocrisy around animal welfare and slaughter does not justify their actions.

The statement from the radio show can be found at http://www.radio24syv.dk/dig-og-radio24syv/animal-welfare/ and they state that "we chose to put down a rabbit during a live radio broadcast. An animal which is both a pet and a farm animal."

They did not put the animal down, nor did they kill it instantly - they beat it to death with a bicycle pump.

And they deserve dismissing from their jobs and punishing to the full extent of the law for it.
