This picture was taken at the British Musical Fireworks Competition in Southport, this time last year. Just days earlier, after a routine thyroid check, Rachel had been told there was a lump in her neck, close to her thyroid. We had no idea of the devastating diagnosis that was about to follow.
Looking back, 2012 was a crucial missed opportunity. After facing two primary cancers and being diagnosed with liver hamartomas, Rachel should have been referred for genetic testing. That referral would have revealed she had Cowden Syndrome — and breast screening could then have been a key part of her ongoing surveillance.
Don’t let another family go through what ours has endured. Please support the campaign and help create a lasting legacy for Rachel.
