Rachel Reeves must resign or be sacked for lying to the public about the black hole
The Issue
I am calling for the immediate Resignation of Rachel Reeves, The Chancellor of the Exchequer because she has lied to the people and we have had enough.
We were told there was a £20billion black hole.
We were told in a speech on 4 November 2025 that the people will all have to contribute to building a brighter Britain and that each of us must do our bit.
She said she was saying this as was being honest with the people. Hence, she was preparing us for tax hikes to come in the Budget to be announced on 27 November 2025. This announcement no doubt caused many people to worry in the interim.
Yet the facts show we were sold a pup and lied to, as the OBR confirmed the finances were in fact, in the black. This was known well before her 4 November 2025 speech.
Yet Rachel Reeves went on to tax the people anyway on the premise that there was a black hole to cover.
She said her Budget would be a Budget with fairness at its heart.
She said she made choices for a reason and ‘Opponents who insist that the only way to balance the books is to cut public spending; And opponents who say that we don’t need to balance the books at all.’
Yet the opponents were right - we didn't need to balance the books at all.
To raise revenue the first task would be to seriously look at public spending and where cuts could be made, before coming to the people again.
In fact she could have made easyfix choices by cutting public spending in areas where public sector organisations (including Councils, Government, Universities, etc) are allowed to claim for:
1) Their meals and entertainment/party costs. These costs should be funded from their own pockets just like the rest us pay for our meals ourselves. There's food poverty in the country and yet the public sector can claim for their meals.
Rachel says she cares about child food poverty, yet doesnt want to lose this perk!
The savings made here alone could pay for the breakfast clubs and lunches for the children of this country or indeed on other areas
2) business class flights – why should the tax-payer pay for public sector workers to fly business class? Many of the people in the UK cannot even afford holidays abroad and which was made worse by the cost of living crisis
3) Employment Tribunal legal costs. Billions could be saved here alone. At the moment public sector organisations (the Police, NHS, Councils, Universities etc) can spend unlimited amounts on legal fees defending an ET claim.
The taxpayer should not have to pay for these legal costs defending claims, for the decisions made by public sector staff or how they treat their workers.
Those staff that made the decisions to sack, discrimate etc the worker, should stand up in court and defend themselves. No lawyers are required. The tax-payer should not have to pay for any legal costs. If the Government won’t do this then they could set a maximum cap of £20k for legal costs that public sector organisations are allowed to spend on an ET case. This matches the amount set in ET Rules for costs.
The list goes on.
These changes are not even difficult choices. They are easy to implement and the money saved here could have been used in ways to boost the economy, give workers a much better minimum wage, pay junior doctors a better wage, fix our roads, properly fund the courts so jury trials are not cut back etc etc
Businessman Luke Johnson has said on BBC Question Time that “This was a Budget for people who receive welfare and benefits, and not for working people”
Rachel Reeves has lied to the people. No matter how she tries to worm her way out of and spin the situation, the facts are clear.
Rachel Reeves has said ‘These are my choices – the right choices for a fairer, a stronger, and more secure Britain.’
They are not the right choices nor are they fair.
This on top of many other pledges broken.
The people didn’t vote for this!
The people have had enough and are sick of being lied to and bled for every penny, when the facts show this was completely unnecessary.
She should resign or Keir Starmer should sack her
I am calling on the all the people of the country to stand up and show we will not stand for this any longer
You can do this by signing and sharing this petition to make change.
The people should never be lied to by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, a Senior Government Official
NB-Everything in this petition is based on what I've read and seen in the media, if this is true she should go or be fired.
