The Sierra Madre is the longest mountain range in the Philippines. Spanning for over 540 kilometers, it runs from the province of Cagayan down to the province of Quezon, forming a north–south direction on the eastern portion of Luzon, the largest island of the archipelago. Sierra Madre which is known as the "Backbone of Luzon" is a mountain range which is our only protection from severe storms, floods, landslides and other disasters. It has been protecting Northern Luzon from typhoons ever since. Look how the environment is protecting us from natural disaster like typhoons.
