Quiznos: Start reporting on your cage-free egg commitment!
The Issue
Quiznos made a commitment to their customers that they would raise their animal welfare standards and stop using eggs from caged hens. While they have finally republished their cage-free policy, they also decided to keep customers in the dark regarding how far they are from reaching their goal. Quiznos has refused to publicly report its progress towards its cage-free commitment—which is unacceptable.
As consumers learn about the horrors egg-laying hens face, they’re demanding that companies to do better. Many companies have listened and made promises to stop sourcing eggs from chickens kept in tiny, filthy cages.
However, promises are only as good as their follow-through.
Quiznos recognized the need to move away from the archaic practice of cramming birds into cages the size of a filing cabinet drawer. The hens are packed together so tightly, they cannot even spread their wings. These social, intelligent animals deserve better than being trapped in barren cages where each hen only gets the space of about a sheet of paper.
Let Quiznos know that consumers don’t want empty promises—we want empty cages!
