A C started this petition to Forever 21 and

Fast fashion clothing is made from inexpensive textiles produced by fast fashion giants, such as Forever 21, Fashion Nova, Zara, and H&M. Fast fashion giants produce a mass amount of clothing at a fast pace to keep up with trending styles. However, it has become a greater trend to rapidly move fast fashion clothing into a landfill, as quickly as it gets to the consumer.

The well-marketed fast fashion of the clothing industry has now become the world's second-largest polluter. Aside from the growing pollution, consumers are buying $10 jeans, unknowingly supporting the exploitation of workers and wages, which fast fashion giants permit in their factories. Fast fashion garment workers have reported working in poor working conditions, being sexually harassed, and forced to work overtime for a minuscule wage.

The struggles that factory garment workers, especially women, encounter, are not representative of the causes that fast fashion giants make a profit from. Let that sink in, for whenever you come across a #Feminism t-shirt at Forever 21.

Therefore, we encourage you to take the following pledge to reduce the popularity of the fast fashion industry:

  • I will stop buying clothes from fast fashion companies until they create and provide ethical working conditions for their employees.
  • I will stop buying clothes from fast fashion companies until they enact a more sufficient textile recycling program.
  • I will invest in ethical clothing companies that promise long-lasting clothing.
  • I will waste and discard fewer clothes to help reduce pollution.
  • I will shop at secondhand stores to promote the reduction of pollution and the benefits of recycling.
  • Instead of throwing out unwanted clothes, I will donate them.

I pledge to acknowledge that although changes in our spending habits are rather small, these changes will greatly impact the working conditions of factory workers and the reduction of pollution. I acknowledge, that by taking this pledge, it will force fast fashion giants to provide ethical working conditions, wages, and right, to their workers. I also acknowledge that I am promoting the use of recycled clothing to create a cleaner environment.
