Since 1995, only 20 years ago, a third of the Great Barrier Reef has been irreversibly destroyed by pollution, climate change, fishing practices and industrialisation – all of which are humanity’s fault. At this rate, by 2055 (in only 40 years) the only natural wonder visible from space will be completely gone. It is our duty to stop this! Should the reef be destroyed entirely, the entire ecosystem will crash. The reef is scientifically one of the most diverse and complex ecosystems in the world, holding 10% of the total world’s species of fish. We have the power to make a change, and Australia has a duty to save the Great Barrier Reef, before it’s too late.
Our present behaviour and lifestyle is not sustainable! Sign this petition to demand the representative Paul Fletcher to make saving the Reef a matter of critical importance in Parliament, and bring the petition to Tony Abbott to show how we need something to be done.
