Help protect our Qld Groundwater Resources

The issue

For over 10 years large companies have been extracting groundwater from aquifers on Mt Tamborine, Springbrook and the Tweed Valley for commercial use. Recently many private bores which sustained local businesses and residents have dried up, yet extraction not only continues but is being ramped up despite legal action taken by local councils on behalf of residents to stop the extraction.

If left to continue then a key resource required by regional communities will eventually dry up and our communities will have even less employment opportunities and self sustainability. This activity has gone on long enough, if let to continue we will join the ranks of 3rd world countries where prolonged water extraction has decimated local communities. See -

Sign this petition which will be provided to Dr Anthony Lynham the Queensland Minister for State Development to amend the "Water Act" to include "Groundwater Management" and thereby enable the State Government to restrict or even cancel ground water extraction where it impacts on the local community.
