FOLKS - first of all I want to extend my well wishes to each and every one of you, and hope for your safety for the upcoming New Year.

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to every one of you for supporting this petition. It has one well beyond what I first imagined.

Today's highlighted story brings forth an issue that is not so obvious to the ordinary citizen. That of selective transparency. As you can see by the 'paywall' article attached here for this update, a very embarrassing situation for QPS who have pushed road safety this year as justification for fining the hell out of the public. A 'Poster Boy' cop from the Road Command Unit was caught speeding in excess of 50k OVER the speed limit.

What gets me here is the fact that the media release was deliberately done in a way that avoids most people reading about it. One story behind a paywall with the Courier Mail takes care of the 'transparency' part of the so-called commitment by QPS to publish issues of wrongdoing by officers, but not to other media houses who would typically be all over a story like this! The 'Poster Boy' for QPS caught out speeding at a time of year when police have major enforcement operations on the go, and ONE OF THEIR OWN PUT UP AS THE FACE OF THIS SAFETY INITIATIVES GETS CAUGHT OUT SPEEDING AND ENDANGERING THE LIVES OF ORDINARY CITIZENS LIKE YOU AND I!

Seriously, how less transparent can you get?

I had a conversation with a Senior QPS Member approximately 40 years ago that went like this "Son, the force doesn't like to air its dirty laundry in public" It was then, a threat to intimidate me into not taking a major issue to the media. 

SERIOUSLY, what applied 40 years ago still applies today. The QPS certainly does not like negative media attention. What's more, the media are manipulated into being on the side of police. How do you think shows like ACA get front line access to police stories? How do you think they just happen to be at the scene when they arrest someone? 

FOLKS, join with us and don't allow this manipulation to influence your stance against police wrongdoing. WE NEED TRANSPARENCY AND TRUE ACCOUNTABILITY NOW MORE THAN EVER.
