FOLKS - I know that we are approaching 37,000 of you. The case posted today in the attached media article should disturb ALL of you.

The reason? IT COULD HAPPEN TO ANY ONE OF YOU! And if it did, just what would you do?

Not many people know that ordinary Citizens in Australia have no right to compensation if they are wrongfully imprisoned for a crime they did not do.

What makes it much worse is that POLICE are very rarely held accountable. In this case, the police 'cherry picked' the evidence presented to the court for the original conviction. This means, they deliberately left out evidence that indicated the man was innocent, and ONLY presented evidence that made him look as guilty as possible.

SHOULD A MEMBER OF THE PUBLIC DO THIS TYPE OF DISPICABLE BEHAVIOUR - THEY WOULD BE CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTING TO PERVERT THE COURSE OF JUSTICE...

Yet, here we have a case where police in Queensland have clearly acted improperly, influencing a court to convict a man that was obviously NOT GUILTY.

I don't know about you all, but if i were to find myself in a position of fighting a case where I were wrongfully accused, I wouldn't have a spare $20,000 or so to hire a lawyer to defend me. I would have to rely on selling my house to pay for representation, or at worst Legal Aid! 

SO IMAGINE if you will, being convicted of a crime you did not do, doing time in a prison where you can be subjected to all types of assaults and treatment by other prisoners and corrections staff, knowing all the time you were actually innocent, having your freedom taken away because of a dirty crooked cop! Then imagine trying to get justice for this with the Cops not being held to account for what they did - WHICH IS A CRIMINAL OFFENCE IN IT'S OWN RIGHT!

The practice of 'picking low hanging fruit' and then 'cherry picking the evidence presented' is very widespread among Queensland Police - and no doubt among other police in this country. WHY? Because there are never any consequences for this despicable behaviour folks.

FOLKS - the only way to get this system sorted is to implement a Civilian Oversight Committee to help hold these crooked cops to account.
