Remove shark nets along the Queensland Coast

The Issue

Shark nets on the Gold Coast kill thousands of marine animals every year. These animals include fish, sting rays, turtles, dolphins, whales and sharks. However, these destructive nets are only around 180m long and therefore are not even effective against sharks. In fact, many sharks and marine animals have been caught on the 'beach side' of the nets, proving their ineffectiveness.

Furthermore, it has been warned by experts that the baited hooks used in shark nets may even draw sharks towards the beach, thus towards the swimmers the nets are trying to protect.

Therefore, sign this petition to have these detrimental shark nets removed from the Queensland Coast.
