The NCHSAA made the decision to take away dual team states, and not allow wrestle backs for placing at the regional and state tournaments.  This decision was made early in the process of high-schoolers coming back to school and sports starting up again.

Since then Covid-19 cases have dropped significantly, many more people have been able to get the vaccine, and the CDC has come out with many new guidelines. Other states made the decision to have these tournaments as they regularly do.  Additionally there have been many large tournaments on the national level that have still happened. Even the NCAA tournament was held in it's normal format.

They added and enforced new safety protocols to make these tournaments safer, and nothing has been heard about them being "super spreader" events. With all of these new guidelines, it is much safer to have these events.

North Carolina wrestlers, parents, coaches and fans are asking NCHSAA allow the full tournaments (team duals and wrestle backs) to take place and give these wrestlers the same opportunity and experience as the ones before them. Just having two mats in a high school will just feel like a local off season tournament, and not the state tournament that these wrestlers have been training for the whole season, or some, their whole wrestling careers.
