Remove the Large tracking collars from the Fraser Island Dingos

Remove the Large tracking collars from the Fraser Island Dingos

The issue

Over 5 years Ago QPWS decided that the best way to keep track of Dingos that had encounters near or around humans would need to be fitted with a tracking collars. The size of these collars is nothing short of cruelty.  The best way I can explain why I am starting  this petition is simply  to be a voice for these beautiful creatures that roam the island. These dingos have the most imposed on lives , no scraps , humans enticing encounters , reports made on any dingo that looks in the direction of a human, rangers that are not their for the dingo.  I am far from a dingo expert but have frequented the island and can see the problem. The QPWS rangers that collar and ear tag these beautiful animals. The size of this collar is absolutely inhumane. They can not achieve normal movement range , they can not be accepted as another in a pack. This is absolutely ludicrous to think any Dingo expert would even consider allowing something of this size to be used . The Dingo is the face of Fraser Island. They have put up with so much from the tourism industry , just keeping themselves alive. Yet the Island  is happy to use their face as advertising to promote tourism. Please sign this petition and share, and while Fraser Island is closed to tourists at the moment let’s use this as an opportunity to free these beautiful creatures and let them be dingos .
